Frequently Asked Questions

What is your policy on Covid Vaccinations?

Due to the inability to social distance during Ballroom Dance, unvaccinated dancers are prohibited*. Those who wish to come to Group Classes, Socials, or Private Lessons must provide proof of vaccination to be admitted.
*Exemptions due to underlying medical conditions that prohibit vaccination can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

What should I wear to class?

Attire: For Group Classes and Private Lessons, the range is from fitness wear to business casual, while Dance Socials should land squarely in the business casual range.

Shoes: Like any sport, you should bring the right gear. Casual students are free to wear sneakers or casual shoes as long as they won't scratch or otherwise harm the studio floor, but if planning to dance long-term, it is highly suggested that you purchase dedicated Ballroom Dance Shoes. These shoes are made with a very thin sole for better contact between foot and ground, support in the arch, and suede bottoms that provide the proper amount of slip without being dangerous. (Due to the suede bottom, dance shoes should not be worn on concrete or other surfaces other than the dance floor.)

Can I come without a partner?

Absolutely! Singles and Couples are welcome. Couples can choose to dance only with the partner they came with, although Sherman gently suggests that dancing with other partners helps dancers encounter different styles of lead and follow and learn faster.

Does Sherman teach couples for weddings/events?

Most definitely! Sherman has choreographed for theatre as well as countless wedding dances from simple to highly complex!
